Dynamic Area Flow Calculator
This calculator is an extension of the "Static Area Flow Calculator". This calculator estimates
the "Dynamic Area Flow" value of the combination of engine parameters, head air flow and valve lift for camshaft
type, intake lobe and profile choices. You can pick a predefined engine, head and/or cam or enter your own values.
At the RPM shown:
- Vac is the vacuum in Inches of H2O across the intake valve due to piston motion.
- BCF is the "Bench Correction Factor" for that vacuum with respect to the common flow bench
standard of 28In H2O vacuum.
- DAF is the "Dynamic Area Flow" for the Engine, RPM listed and camshaft selected. The values
should be considered as a relative comparison only as they do not actually measure anything real.
- CFM is cylinder displacement in Cubic Feet per Minute for one cylinder at the RPM listed.
It is NOT the air flow required because volumetric efficiency is not considered.
For comparison to the "Static Area Flow Calculator" the DAF @28"Hg shown here is the same
as the Avg AF shown there.
NOTE 1: Engine (parameters) C.R. and RPM are ignored by this calculator.
NOTE 2: Only intake DAF available in this version.
